Advanced skaters wanting to practice jumps, spins, ice dance, and any other advanced skating techniques (with or without a coach) are encouraged to attend the 40-50 weekly freestyle skating sessions that are offered to practice these maneuvers.
In addition, the Ice Den Chandler offers various structured on ice and off ice classes with structured curriculum to focus on specific skills and training. Details and descriptions are listed below.
Class registration will automatically close at scheduled session start time or when capacity is reached.
Skaters are not permitted to skate if skater name is not registered for session. Skaters who intentionally skate knowing they have not registered will be subject to disciplinary action including loss of ice privileges.

FREESTYLES ARE FIGURE SKATING ONLY SESSIONS
THIS IS NOT PUBLIC SKATE REGISTRATION.
Ice Den Directors reserve the right to place skaters in appropriate levels regardless of their test record.
No rental skates allowed. This session has no level restrictions but is only open to those working on solo/pattern dance or skating skills tests.
Hockey players 11 and under must be in a coached lesson for the entire time of the session. Adult hockey players are allowed. No hockey gear or sticks allowed. Hockey helmets and gloves are allowed. Skaters must be in tracksuits. No hoodies, no ballcaps. Hockey players over 12 that are aware of the rules may practice on their own before or after their lesson. One skater per lesson only for hockey. Coaches must be on the ice the entire lesson to coach hockey. Coaches may not coach from the hockey box for any portion of the lesson. Hockey skaters must be informed of all FS skating rules. Example: right of way, music belt, jump & spin patterns, correct entrance & exit door. No push-ups, timed laps, stationary cones, hockey gloves or stationary hockey sticks allowed on the ice as a teaching tool on a session with more than 10 skaters.
No rental skates allowed. Skaters who have competed at Well Balanced Preliminary Free skate or higher. Excel competitors who have competed at the Excel Preliminary Plus level or higher. Adult skaters who have passed Adult Bronze Skating Skills test or higher. Dancers who are competing Preliminary dance.
If a skater does not compete in Singles, Dance, Pairs or Synchro - skaters must have passed Bronze Standard Skating Skills or Pre-Bronze pattern dance test. Teams: Qualifications for freestyle sessions are based on Pair or Free Dance level passed or competed by at least one member of the team.

Open to Adult Beginners or Recreational skaters as well as Adult Skaters working on Adult Singles Free Skating or Skating Skills Requirements for competition. Rate of speed and safety for all skaters on the session must be respected.
Skaters must have their own skates to participate on these sessions. Figure and hockey skaters (no sticks) are welcome!

Mondays 5:40 - 6:10 PM
For any skater working on single jumps, axels or double jumps. Classes will focus on jumping techniques, rotation and landing positions. Running/athletic shoes and skating/exercise attire required.
Mondays 6:10 - 6:40 PM
Open to all ages and levels. Class curriculum will include contemporary, lyrical, jazz and ballroom dance, body movement, artistry, creativity, expression, body lines/extension. Skating/exercise attire required. Hair must be pulled back.

Tuesdays 4:45 - 5;15 PM
Open to all ages and levels. This off-ice class will focus on spin positions, jump takeoffs, and electric spinner time. Skaters can learn balance, spin speed, positions, and how to work on jumps and spins with an off-ice spinner. If you own an off-ice spinner, please bring it to class with you. Running/athletic shoes and skating/exercise attire required. Hair must be pulled back.
Wednesdays 4:45-5:15 PM
Designed for skaters ages 13 and up, this full-body training session builds strength, power, and speed to support advanced skating skills. Expect a fun but challenging workout tailored for athletes pursuing higher-level competitive skating. Work out/athletic clothing and shoe required. Hair must be pulled back.

Wednesdays 5:15 -5:45 PM
For skaters ages 12 and older who are working on double jumps. This class develops explosive power, proper jump mechanics, and air awareness to take your jumping to the next level. Jump rope required. Athletic/work out attire and shoes required. hair must be pulled back.
Wednesdays 5:55 -6:25 PM
Ideal for skaters building a strong athletic base, this class focuses on fundamental strength, balance, and endurance — all while keeping it fun and engaging. A great option for developing skaters who want to improve performance on the ice. Work out/athletic attire and shoes required. Hair must be pulled back.

Thursdays 5:20 - 5:50 PM
Open to all skating levels and ages. Ballet experience not necessary. Class will emphasize standard ballet positions and combinations and feature a blend of core strengthening and flexibility exercises. Structured to assist figure skaters with correctness of posture, balance, musicality, range of motion, increase extensions and focus on basic positions such as spirals etc. A yoga mat, ballet/skating attire and ballet slippers are mandatory. Hair must be pulled back.

Thursdays 5:50 - 6:20 PM
A class designed for figure skaters of all levels age 8 and up. This class will focus on stretching and flexibility for figure skaters. Stretches and core work will be the focus of the class, working towards the positions needed for skating (ex. Biellmann, Sasha, spirals, lay backs etc.)

Thursdays 5:50 - 6:20 PM
Designed to advance the beginner ballet skills and take stretching and flexibility to the next level. More complex combinations and coordination, further development of standard ballet positions, as well as complexity of stretches to achieve difficult positions needed in skating (biellmann, layback, spiral variations). Structured to assist figure skaters with correctness of posture, balance and head/arm positions. A yoga mat, ballet/skating attire and ballet slippers are mandatory. Hair must be pulled back.

Jaclyn has taught ballet all over the Phoenix metro area since 2007. Jaclyn has been training Arizona’s premier figure skaters through her own business, “AZ Ballet for Figure Skaters” at the Scottsdale and Chandler Ice Den’s since 2010. Jaclyn also currently teaches at Master Ballet Academy under the direction of Slawomir and Irena Wozniak. Jaclyn has a passion for ballet and makes it her priority to pass on this love for the art form to all her students.
